Introduction to Badrinath and His Family
Badrinath aka Badri (Varun Dhawan) belongs to a very rich family. His elder brother Alok (Yash Sinha) was in love with a beautiful girl and wanted to marry him but unfortunately had to leave that girl and sacrifice his love because of his father Ambarnath aka Ambar (Ritu Raj). When Ambar comes to know about Alok's wish to marry a girl he suffered a heart attack and forcefully has to marry a girl of his father's choice Urmila ( Shweta Basu Prasad). Urmila is a very intelligent, educated and professionally trained girl. She also wants to help Alokin his family business but Ambar never allows her to do so.
Fear of Lost Love
Here Alok is very depressed because of his lost love. He is unable to forget his love so he starts drinking every night and likes to remain alone. Badrinath witnesses his brother's sad love story so he also fears the same. Once Badrinath meets Vaidehi (Alia Bhatt) in a wedding and fall in love with her instantly. Badrinath becomes mad behind her and now wants to marry her only. Vaidehi belongs to the middle-class family. She is an intelligent, highly educated and decent girl. Whereas Badrinath is just 10th pass boy. Vaidehi has completed her graduation and secretly preparing to be a flight attendant.

Badrinath and Vaidehi Marriage
Vaidehi was initially not interested marrying Badrinath even she insulted Badrinath in public and rejected his marriage proposal also but later when Badrinath help Vaidehi's family in searching groom from her elder sister and Badri also resolved the dowry crisis hence she agrees to marry Badri.
On their wedding day, Vaidehi runs away from there. Badrinath is heartbroken and upset now while his father became very angry and order Badri to bring her back so that he will hang her for what she did. Now Badri goes to Mumbai and there he came to know that she had already left for Singapore for flight attendant training. Then Badrinath flies to Singapore and finds Vaidehi there and kidnap her. In their argument she was explaining Badri that she did not leave because of him she leaves to pursue her dream and she apologizes to Badri but the angry Badrinath grabs her throat and police arrives there and take them to the police station.
Badri Reaches Singapore for Vaidehi
In the police station, Vaidehi saves Badrinath though he kidnaps and grabbed her throat. Then after Badri starts following Vaidehi everywhere and restless Badrinath tries to enter her workplace and poor Vaidehi defends him again and tells him that she agrees to marry him if only his father allows her to work and permit them to live in Singapore, after hearing Vaidehi's condition Badrinath keeps mum.
One night Badrinath gets heavily drunk and creates a scene in front of Vaidehi's Residential apartment. Then they neighbors call the police and they go to the police station again. This time she has to pay fine for his bail and police seized Badri's passport for three days. Then Vaidehi brings Badrinath at her place where she takes care of him and spends more time with and they tour Singapore together hence they became very good friends.
Vaidehi Missing Badrinath After Leaving to India
After three days Badrinath gets back his passport and departed from Singapore and arrives in India. After Badri leaves from there Vaidehi Started missing him and realizes that she also started loving him. Here Badrinath came to know that Urmila is pregnant and his father is performing pooja so that she will deliver a baby boy. Badrinath is drunk at the time of pooja and he is very angry and understands why Vaidehi ran away from the wedding. He tells his father to respect woman and their independence. And blame his father for not having Vaidehi today.
Finally the Marriage of Badrinath and Vaidehi
All of sudden he sees Vaidehi standing in the corner and she also confess her love to him and tells him that now she also wants to marry him. Now both of them stands firmly and tell Ambar that they will marry and Vaidehi will work whether he agrees or not. Then they stay in a long distance relationship as Vaidehi was lives in Singapore to complete his training. After completing her training she returned to India and Starts her own institute and they have a son also. Here Ambarnath is a changed man now and treats both her daughter in law equally and they all lives a happy life.
